Attempted break and enter, Wheatley Road, Wongaling Beach: Officers are investigating the attempted unlawful entry to a Wheatley Road business between July 26 and July 28.

An unknown offender has used an object to try and gain entry to a building on the property. Police are urging anyone with information regarding the identity of the offender to contact police and quote reference number QP1701305647.

 

Stolen Fuel, Mission Beach: Between July 20 and 24, 50 litres of diesel fuel was siphoned from an excavator parked on El Arish Road. Police believe an unknown person has attended the location and stolen the fuel from the excavator. Mission Beach Police urge anyone with any information to contact them on 4068 8422 and quote reference number QP1701279345.

 

Driving whilst disqualified, Wongaling Beach: A 34-year-old man was charged with driving whilst disqualified. Police intercepted the man on Tully Mission Beach Road around 5:30pm on July 12.Checks revealed his licence was currently court disqualified. The man is scheduled to appear at the Tully Magistrates Court on August 3.

 

Investigations continuing into suspicious fire: Police are continuing their investigation after a restaurant was extensively damaged by a fire on July 9 in Mission Beach. Initial inquires indicate that about 11:15pm on July 9 emergency services were called to a fire in the Porters Promenade business after a member of the public reported the fire. The restaurant was closed at the time and the fire is considered suspicious. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who has relevant dash cam or CCTV to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and quote reference number QP1701190434.

 

Don’t forget to pay for your fuel: Police want to remind local residents to be sure they have paid for their fuel before they leave the service station. Police have received numerous complaints in recent months from the service stations in relation to petrol drive-offs. Generally, drivers are from the local area and have left the petrol station by accident without paying for their fuel. Despite drivers willingly returning to pay for the fuel, police waste valuable time and resources reporting on and investigating these offences. Please remember to pay for your fuel.

 

Excessive noise complaints: Mission Beach police want to remind residents that a noise compliant can be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Officers have attended a number of complaints during July and want to remind residents, excessive noise from amplified music, motors, generators and guests, can be considered as a noise compliant. Once a compliant is reported the complaint will be investigated. If police are reasonable satisfied the noise is excessive in the circumstance they can issue a noise abatement direction for 96 hours.
